SUNTUITIVE THERMOCHROMIC
SUNTUITIVE THERMOCHROMIC
Description
Suntuitive is a self-tinting laminated glass which uses thermochromic technology to change from clear to tinted with the heat from solar radiation. Window darkens as solar radiation intensifies.
Suntuitive is designed to help manage the building’s changing needs for passive solar heat gain and natural light.
- Suntuitive is a Grade A safety glass made to AS*2208 standards.
- Suntuitive is offered as:
- Toughened laminated glass
- Double glazed with low-e on surface #3
Suntuitive in heated to 100 degrees Celsius
Suntuitive responds to heat rather than light. In this demonstration we use heated water to illustrate the tinting capabilities of Suntuitive glass. Thermochromic technology draws parallels with photochromic technology, however while transition-lenses used in a pair of specs utilise the sun’s light, thermochromic technology utilises the sun’s heat.
Some Benefits
- Glare control for computer screens.
- The circadian rhythm relies on natural light to maintain energy levels throughout the day.
- Temperature controlled, comfortable office environment. Light in, heat and UV rays out.
Installation
iGlass Suntuitive can be quickly and easily installed by an experienced glazier.
Thermochromic technology differs from electrochromic technology in that the level of tint is controlled by solar radiation rather than an electrical current. Suntuitive is easy to install in bi-folds, remote holiday houses and is the perfect solution to the visual interference caused by skylight blinds.
In preparation for the hot summer months iGlass' Suntuitive was installed into this north facing residential townhouse by our team of glaziers.
Operation
Intuitive - Suntuitive - No operational knowledge required.
This off-grid technology requires no operational knowledge.
After your Suntuitive windows and doors have been installed all you have to do is wait for the summer months to experience the magic of this self-tinting glass.
You will find that south facing windows will not achieve the same level of tint because they do not receive the same intensity from the sun. Where parts of your window are shaded by awnings or trees you may notice that these areas will not darken as dramatically as the rest of your glass façade.
